You should always hide your valuables when you're traveling so there will be a lower chance you'll being robbed. Never use a backpack and only carry enough money on you that you will need for one day. Your passport, cash and credit cards should be locked up in your hotel safe. Another way to have a problem free trip to Europe is to try to understand their culture and laws before leaving. Certain gestures, actions and remarks that are appropriate in America can be illegal or highly offensive in other countries.
3. Map Out Your Itinerary
If you're not taking any predetermined routes or tour packages, you can save time and frustration by mapping out where you would like to go beforehand.

4. Organize Your Documents Before Leaving the United States
Before you leave on your trip you should prepare all your legal and financial documents as a precaution in case something happens overseas. You should also update your life insurance policy, medical insurance information and get personal property insurance. 5. Travel with Caution
While you're traveling in Europe always keep your eyes open and observe where you are at all times, especially if you're traveling in a crowded train or subway. Avoid traveling alone when you can and avoid taking shortcuts to get to your next destination. Never discuss personal information with strangers and avoid wearing very luxurious clothing since this could draw attention to yourself and make you a walking target for thieves. If you discover you are lost, only ask people for directions that are an authority figure.
